Our Father's House
Holy Ghost??

Let us ask a word of wisdom from the Father on this subject in Jesus name Amen. In this study we going to investigate what the evidence of the Holy Spirit is and at the same time we are going to look at the traditions of men and what they teach the evidence of the holy ghost is. First of all lets go to the Strongs Concordance and look at this word ghost.

Ghost 4151 pneuma (pnyoo'-mah);
from 4154; a current of air, i.e. breath (blast) or a breeze; by analogy or figuratively, a spirit, i.e. (human) the rational soul, (by implication) vital principle, mental disposition, etc., or (superhuman) an angel, demon, or (divine) God, Christ's spirit, the Holy Spirit:
KJV-- ghost, life, spirit (-ual, -ually), mind. Compare 5590.

4154 pneo (pneh'-o);
a primary word; to breathe hard, i.e. breeze:
KJV-- blow. Compare 5594.

We can see that the word pneuma would have been better translated as Holy Spirit not holy ghost. You see in this sentence that we capitalized Holy Spirit and not holy ghost just as throughout our Fathers word when we are talking about Him as God or Lord it is capitalized. But when we are talking about other gods it is not capitalized. I dont apologize for the translators of the King James they did their best. But I really think that this is a very bad translation of the word pneuma because Gods spirit is no spook. With that being said let us go to the word on the day of Pentecost when the Holy Spirit spoke through the 120 and the evidence of it.

Acts 2:1-16
1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.

They were all in the upper room and most importantly they were all of like mind.

2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

This rushing mighty wind in the Hebrew should have been translated as the Holy Ruwach. The wind that comes from all four directions at the same time. We can see here that it came from where? Heaven of course. Straight from the throne of God.

3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.

To me this is the opposite of what God did to those that were building the tower of Babel. Instead of splitting all their languages up where they could not understand each other, when the Holy Spirit speaks all the languages are spoke at the same time as one language and they all understand in their own language right back to their own dialect. That is to say right back to the place they where born. This may sound confusing but never the less we find out it is so in verses 6 & 7. Also you should note that the word cloven is used not the word unknown. But the word cloven, when we are talking about the evidence of the Holy Spirit.

4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Lets bring this verse up to date.

They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and they began to speak in other languages as the Holy Spirit spoke through them.

At this time lets look at the word tongues in the Strongs.

Tongues:
1100 glossa (gloce-sah');
of uncertain affinity; the tongue; by implication, a language (specially, one naturally unacquired):
KJV-- tongue.

5 And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.

To bring this verse up to snuff; we have men of every nation on the earth living in Judea. Just as I am Irish and German but I live in Tennessee, I am called a Tennessean.

6 Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language.
7 And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans?
8 And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?

As we stated above, the Holy Spirit spoke and everyone that heard it understood what was being said in their own language right back to where they born. Below we will see that they came from all over the known world at that time.

9 Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia,
10 Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes,
11 Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God.
12 And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this?
13 Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine.

This was something they had never heard before and was totally amazed by what they saw and heard. The only explanation they could come up with was that these men are drunk!

14 But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words:
15 For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day.
16 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;

Peter stood up and said Its not even lawful for us to be drinking at this hour. It is only 9:00 in the morning. Peter also recognized that the Holy Spirit was speaking what was said in the book of Joel. My friends this is very important. To not only understand what the Pentecostal language is but what was said. So lets go to the book of Joel and see what Peter recognized. For this is what the Holy Spirit spoke.

Joel 2:1-32
1 Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the LORD cometh, for it is nigh at hand;
2 A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the morning spread upon the mountains: a great people and a strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, even to the years of many generations.
3 A fire devoureth before them; and behind them a flame burneth: the land is as the garden of Eden before them, and behind them a desolate wilderness; yea, and nothing shall escape them.
4 The appearance of them is as the appearance of horses; and as horsemen, so shall they run.
5 Like the noise of chariots on the tops of mountains shall they leap, like the noise of a flame of fire that devoureth the stubble, as a strong people set in battle array.
6 Before their face the people shall be much pained: all faces shall gather blackness.
7 They shall run like mighty men; they shall climb the wall like men of war; and they shall march every one on his ways, and they shall not break their ranks:
8 Neither shall one thrust another; they shall walk every one in his path: and when they fall upon the sword, they shall not be wounded.
9 They shall run to and fro in the city; they shall run upon the wall, they shall climb up upon the houses; they shall enter in at the windows like a thief.
10 The earth shall quake before them; the heavens shall tremble: the sun and the moon shall be dark, and the stars shall withdraw their shining:
11 And the LORD shall utter his voice before his army: for his camp is very great: for he is strong that executeth his word: for the day of the LORD is great and very terrible; and who can abide it?
12 Therefore also now, saith the LORD, turn ye even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning:
13 And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the LORD your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil.
14 Who knoweth if he will return and repent, and leave a blessing behind him; even a meat offering and a drink offering unto the LORD your God?
15 Blow the trumpet in Zion, sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly:
16 Gather the people, sanctify the congregation, assemble the elders, gather the children, and those that suck the breasts: let the bridegroom go forth of his chamber, and the bride out of her closet.
17 Let the priests, the ministers of the LORD, weep between the porch and the altar, and let them say, Spare thy people, O LORD, and give not thine heritage to reproach, that the heathen should rule over them: wherefore should they say among the people, Where is their God?
18 Then will the LORD be jealous for his land, and pity his people.
19 Yea, the LORD will answer and say unto his people, Behold, I will send you corn, and wine, and oil, and ye shall be satisfied therewith: and I will no more make you a reproach among the heathen:
20 But I will remove far off from you the northern army , and will drive him into a land barren and desolate, with his face toward the east sea, and his hinder part toward the utmost sea, and his stink shall come up, and his ill savour shall come up, because he hath done great things.
21 Fear not, O land; be glad and rejoice: for the LORD will do great things.
22 Be not afraid, ye beasts of the field: for the pastures of the wilderness do spring, for the tree beareth her fruit, the fig tree and the vine do yield their strength.
23 Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the LORD your God: for he hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month.
24 And the floors shall be full of wheat, and the fats shall overflow with wine and oil.
25 And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.
26 And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the LORD your God, that hath dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed.
27 And ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am the LORD your God, and none else: and my people shall never be ashamed.

Peter stated that this is that which was spoken of by the prophet Joel. The book of Joel has 3 chapters. We came to chapter 2 and the reason why is if you read the following verses you will see that it is almost the same word for word what was written in Acts chapter 2 starting with verse 17. Lets go there and you will see what I mean.

Acts 2:17-21
17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:
18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:
19 And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:
20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come:
21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Just wanted to throw this in to document how Peter recognized what was being spoken by the Holy Spirit and what was being said. Let's go back to Joel.

Joel 2
28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:
29 And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit.
30 And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke.
31 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come.
32 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call.

WOW! Was that something? No wonder they thought that they where drunk! That sounds like something straight out of a Steven King novel. These things havent even happened to this day. But I tell you they are nigh at the door. Was this the only account of the Pentecostal language (the Holy Spirit speaking)? I say no. We can look at Acts 10 and see that even the Gentiles had received the Holy Spirit and it spoke through them also.

Acts 10:43-48
43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.
44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.
45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.
46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,
47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?
48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.

We have just recently done a study on the health laws. We brought out in that study that a lot of the churches believe that the health laws no longer apply. And they try to back up their belief with Peters vision of unclean animals that is brought forth in Acts 10. But if you read the whole story you can see that we not talking about the health laws at all. But that salvation has also been brought forth to the Gentiles because Christ had paid the price and it was thenceforth for whosoever will believe upon Him should have everlasting life. Even the Gentiles. We have pretty much the same thing with the Holy Spirit. Many churches of today believe that the holy ghost is a babbling tongue and they go to I Corinthians to back up their beliefs. So with that being said, this is exactly where we are going to next.

1 Cor 14:1-40
1 Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy.

Charity=love
Desire=covet earnestly
Omit the word gifts
That=in order that

So lets do this verse in modern English.
Follow after love, and covet earnestly spiritual, but rather in order that ye may prophesy

2 For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.

The biggest thing to pay attention to in this verse is that the word unknown was added by man. The word tongues as we have already shown above would have been better translated as languages. So what this verse is saying is when you speak in a language that is different from the language of the people that you are speaking to, they dont understand.
Example: If I am speaking to a congregation of people and they all speak Spanish and I speak to them in English, they do not understand what I am saying.

3 But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort.
4 He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.

When you bring forth the prophecies that where spoken of by the prophets youre not edifying yourself but the members of the church. Also in this verse the word " unknown" was added by man and the word tongues would have been better translated as language. Further more if you read all of I Cor. 14, by removing the word unknown and using the word languages instead of tongues you will have a more accurate account of what God was saying through Paul.

5 I would that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying.

It is not necessary for all to learn different languages. And it prophet us nothing if we do not have an interpreter to interpret the language as we speak. And I might add if the interpreter is not gifted enough to be able to bring forth the feeling of what is being said along with the words that are being said you will not get the total meaning of what is being said. Also in this verse it is brought forth that it is better to bring forth the prophesies of the prophets than to speak other languages.

6 Now, brethren, if I come unto you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you, except I shall speak to you either by revelation, or by knowledge, or by prophesying, or by doctrine?
7 And even things without life giving sound, whether pipe or harp, except they give a distinction in the sounds, how shall it be known what is piped or harped?
8 For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle?

These 3 verses are pretty much saying that if I come speaking to you in a language that you do not understand it is like a horn that blows out of harmony. Like in the military; if you dont know the difference between taps and revelry you dont know whether to mourn or to wake up.

9 So likewise ye, except ye utter by the tongue words easy to be understood, how shall it be known what is spoken? for ye shall speak into the air.
10 There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of them is without signification.
11 Therefore if I know not the meaning of the voice, I shall be unto him that speaketh a barbarian, and he that speaketh shall be a barbarian unto me.

These 3 verses are pretty much saying the same thing as the prior 3 verses but in a different way as examples of speaking a language that is unknown to the persons you are speaking to.

12 Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church.
13 Wherefore let him that speaketh in an unknown tongue pray that he may interpret.
14 For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful.
15 What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.
16 Else when thou shalt bless with the spirit, how shall he that occupieth the room of the unlearned say Amen at thy giving of thanks, seeing he understandeth not what thou sayest?

If you dont speak, pray or prophesy in the language of those you are addressing or have an interpreter to speak for you, the people will not even know when to say amen and no one will profit from the teachings.

17 For thou verily givest thanks well, but the other is not edified.
18 I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all:
19 Yet in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding, that by my voice I might teach others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue.

Again I have to bring into this lesson that if you do not speak the language of the people being addressed no matter how well you teach the people or the church they cannot learn anything unless you speak their language or have an interpreter present. Also Paul brings forth in verse 18 that he speaks more languages than all them. Which is having the gift of unknown tongues or rather other languages.

20 Brethren, be not children in understanding: howbeit in malice be ye children, but in understanding be men.

When I was a child I spoke as a child. I understood as a child. I reacted as a child. Even when it came to our Fathers word.
Example: When I was going to Sunday school as a child I was taught about apple eating in the garden. Which was very confusing since it is not a sin to eat an apple. In fact God said to partake of all the fruit of the trees except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Which also was confusing since trees do not have knowledge of good and evil. But anyways not to digress now that I am mature in our Fathers word I dont talk about eating apples in the garden I talk about the lies Satan used to deceive Eve and thenceforth Adam.

Ive cut this chapter short because basically it says the same things that we have already covered. Except that when you have 2 or 3 different languages in a single congregation you are to let the interpreters speak one at a time and not to do that more than 2 or 3 times. Why? Lets face it brethren, lets say we have one man speaking in English and then we have 3 interpreters, one Spanish, one French and one Italian. By the time the 4 get through speaking one verse it would be hard to keep the thought of the subject flowing smoothly. Also in the rest of this chapter it brings forth that women should remain silent in the church. If you take this literally it makes God sound like a male-chauvinist pig. We know our Father is fair in every way. What is good for woman is good for man and vise-versa. What our Father is saying there is that when HIS word is being taught, no matter if you are a man or a woman, if you have a question about the teachings wait until after the service is over to ask your questions.

We started this study in Acts on Pentecost day and the evidence of the Holy Spirit speaking. We also brought in the fact that Peter recognized what was being said was from the book of Joel. In the book of Joel we can see that what is being said has to do with end times, this dispensation. The question we have to ask ourselves is what does all this have to do with us today? Well in this section of this study we will bring forth just that very subject. Prophesy that pertains to the Holy Spirit and today. To do this we are going to use the very verses where Christ is speaking to 4 of His disciples when they ask show us signs of how it will be before your return. I bet by now most of you know where we are going next. Yes thats right. Mark 13 where Christ opens to us the seals in the exact order as they are written in Revelation chapter 6.

Mark 13:9-11
9
But take heed to yourselves: for they shall deliver you up to councils; and in the synagogues ye shall be beaten: and ye shall be brought before rulers and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them.
10
And the gospel must first be published among all nations.
11
But when they shall lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Ghost.

Before these particular verses in Mark we are given the first 5 seals. In this particular place the 6th seal has been opened and the abomination of desolations (anti-christ) sits where he aught not. You can read further about when he is sitting on the north side of Zion pretending to be God in II Thess. chapter 2 which must happen before the seventh trumpet sounds. This is exactly what we are waiting for today. 5 seals have already been opened literally. We are waiting for the sixth. We see in the verses above that some of Gods children will be delivered up to the legal and church systems for a testimony against Satan who is playing Jesus and those who have fallen for his tricks. We see in verse 11 that this is when God speaks through those that are obedient and they better not premeditate or think what they are going to say because God is going to do the talking through them. Now we know that today we have many different languages. I dont know exactly how many but there are way over 100. But that does not matter because God is not the author of confusion. When God speaks everyone will understand what is being said in their own language right back to the county in which they were born. All at the same time just as is was on the day of Pentecost. Which is the Holy Spirit! Also we have to bring in the fact that this is when you can commit the unforgivable sin. Which is blaspheming the Holy Spirit. At this time lets pull up the one place in the New Testament that we are told what the unforgivable sin is and when it can be committed. Thats right we are going to Luke chapter 12.

Luke 12:8-12
8
Also I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God:
9
But he that denieth me before men shall be denied before the angels of God.
10 And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but unto him that blasphemeth against the Holy Ghost it shall not be forgiven.
11
And when they bring you unto the synagogues, and unto magistrates, and powers, take ye no thought how or what thing ye shall answer, or what ye shall say:
12
For the Holy Ghost shall teach you in the same hour what ye ought to say.

In these verses and particularly in verse 10, we are taught that denying or speaking against the Holy Spirit is the unforgivable sin. Or blaspheming the Holy Spirit. In verses 11 and 12 we are shown the time this can happen and how you can do it. You will notice that it says that when they bring you unto the synagogues and magistrates and powers that you are to take no thought what you will say. This is a second witness to what we read in Mark 13 and you can also read of it in Matthew 24 and Luke 21. There are many places in the bible that document this time frame. Basically what this means is that if you know that the anti-christ comes first without a shadow of a doubt and you worship him as God or Christ you are denying the Holy Spirit speaking through you. I was taught as a child that if you mock what they call the holy ghost today, you know, that babble, or speak a word against it, that is blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. And as I said earlier, when I was a child I spoke as a child. I hope and pray that through this study we have brought forth exactly what the Holy Spirit is and the difference between it and what the holy ghost is. Also the difference between cloven tongues and the unknown tongues. Do I personally think that any of the election will commit the unforgivable sin? No. What are the rewards for those that allow the Holy Spirit to speak through them? We can read of this in Revelation chapter 20 verses 4-6.

Rev 20:4-6
4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.
6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

I pray that you want to be a part of the first resurrection and will allow our Father to use you and fulfill your destinies as the first fruits. May your eyes and ears be open to the truth. In Jesus name we pray. AMEN
